Gary Habermas, Ph.D.
Professor of Philosophy
and Theology
Dr. Gary R. Habermas is Distinguished Professor of Apologetics
and Philosophy and Chair of the Department of Philosophy and
Theology at Liberty University. He received a Master of Arts
in Philosophical Theology from the University of Detroit, a
Doctor of Divinity in Theology from Emmanuel College, Oxford
and a Doctor of Philosophy in History and Philosophy of
Religion from Michigan State University. Dr. Habermas, widely
regarded as a leading expert about the historical Jesus and
the evidence for the resurrection, is a frequent lecturer and
guest professor at universities throughout the United States.
Professor Habermas has written more than 100 articles, primarily
on aspects of the historical Jesus, in journals such as Religious
Studies, Philosophia Christi, Biblioteca Sacra
and Faith and Philosophy. He is the author of 25 books
including The Historical Jesus: Ancient Evidence for the Life
of Christ, Did Jesus Rise from the Dead? (co-authored
with prominent atheist Antony Flew), The Resurrection of Jesus
and The Thomas Factor: Using Your Doubts to Draw Closer to
God.
